It has been well documented how profoundly the African-American musical experience affected African-American culture, the broader American culture in general and in many ways how music is perceived and shared worldwide. It is documented how African-American religious music sustained, inspired and comforted generations of African-American through troubles and heartaches from slavery through modern day racism and discrimination. What is under-documented are the specific ways African-American religious music affected, motivated and facilitated God’s wondrous grace, mercy and love in individual lives. This series of posts attempts to document that phenomena and in the process to inspire, edify and fortify us. Enjoy!
